So you’re new to this whole flying thing? Unlike turbulence, staring flight training is a breeze. With the right mindset and preparation you can go from first flight to First Officer in no time at all, and its our job to get you there! All you have to do is consider and answer the questions we’ve listed below. They might seem simple but without a correct understanding of WHY you are doing something, you’ll never adequately know WHAT to do.
What is your goal?
Some people want to fly private jets for corporate executives, others want to fly for fun on their own time. Most want to work with the airlines flying big commercial jets. The way you start your journey depends on where you’re looking to end up, and how quickly. Thankfully Venture West is ready to help you succeed no matter the destination. From our accelerated Airline Pilot program to one-at-a-time ratings, we have the training for you.
How do you plan to pay?
This is one of the biggest factors to understand when it comes to considering different paths in aviation. If you’re paying out of pocket you’ll have the most opportunities open to you, although this is the most expensive route. If you’re looking for affordable financing options that help alleviate the financial burden for now and postpone payments until you’ve completed your training, going the College Degree route may be a more viable option.
Do you need a college degree?
Historically the airlines required a Bachelor’s Degree in order to be hired. Due to the current pilot shortage they’ve removed that requirement, but it is now increasingly competitive to get hired in the space. This is leading some to believe the requirement will return and we want you to be prepared. Through the College Degree path, flight students can earn their degree and flight certificates simultaneously and at a much more affordable cost.
